Tami's Tips: Folex is Fantastic

ACK! Bubby and Princess had a little art session. Pretty colors, but not so much on my carpet. While not my favorite outcome, I'm not thrown into such a tizzy these days. That's because Jen introduced me to one of my closest cleaning friends: FOLEX!! (Did you hear the angels sing?)
Simply spray the spots with Folex, and blot with a damp cloth.
More blotting. No rubbing, blotting. My friend Angie told me that was very important. It has something to do with the carpet fibers, and then I heard the "wah, wah, wah, wah" from Charlie Brown. Angie is smart, so I just listen, and always BLOT!
Before you know it. . . .
GONE! (The darkness you see in the picture is just from the carpet being wet. It dried perfectly, and you can't tell a 4 year old crafted on the carpet. Ever.)

This wasn't really that big of a carpet emergency, just a bit of paint. But my friend Folex has taken Sharpie marker out of carpet more times than I care to remember. Then there was the time we were staying with our friends, and Bubby markered all over their cream carpet. And their daughters favorite stuffed animal.

I'm sorry I don't have photos of those experiences. It was back when Folex and I were just getting to know one another. I would panic, and not even think about photos for blog posting. That is until the spot was already gone. Sorry. Spots in the carpet make me a little, crazy. Yes, crazy would be the word.

Thanks Folex for returning me to sanity.

While I don't wish the "need" for Folex on you, I do hope my friend Folex can help you out if you ever find yourself in a carpet emergency.

:) Tami

  1. With my boys in the house, and girl, I need to be prepared. That one spot wasn't bad, it was the fact that there were LOTS of those spots all over the landing upstairs.

    Ha!

Who did you have on camera duty? I love the thumbs up picture!

  3. That would be my girl. Both she and The General love taking pictures. So when I asked for some help, she was more than happy to be my photo-journalist.
Thanks. It actually made cleaning the carpet kinda fun. Not really fun, but not bad.

  4. My computer let me in, without scaring me! No sirens going off or anything :)

If I cared about my carpets, I might have to try the stuff. When Roy was a puppy I stopped trying to be perfect, and mixed up some Lysol with water. Since then I discovered the dollar store has a good enough carpet product, I think it's called Awesome. I bet it would not touch sharpies though. What gets sharpie off the walls? That's what I need.

  5. Brenda,

Try the Magic Eraser. I think it is by the Mr. Clean people. I can't promise, but it has gotten some smudges off my walls. Be careful though, it has been known to work so well the paint comes off too!

  6. We are magic eraser fans here! They can bring a pair of white tennis shoes back to life like no buddies business. No carpet here, but wonder how it works on upholstery.

  7. Jody,
It is just as good on upholstery. The only problem, it leaves a nice clean spot when the rest of the couch looks a like it needs a little freshening up.

  8. I've never heard of Folex but if it gets paint and marker out of light colored carpets I'm going to find the stuff! I'm a Magic Eraser fan, too. It works on everything! Thanks for the carpet cleaning tip.
