Why I don't blog. . . .

Remember when I proudly announced The General's latest hobby? You can click here to check it out.

Well, each little movie that he puts together takes hundreds of photos. Guess where they go? On the hard drive. We all share one computer, so that means the same hard drive that I have my bloggy photos on. Did I mention hundreds, actually it may be thousands of photos? (I'm not joking.)

Not that I was a prolific blogger before, but now sorting through all the stop frame photos hurts my head. I honestly don't have that kind of time to scroll through all of his creativity.

If anyone has great tips for keeping the uploads from one camera, and one computer separate, please let me know. It may greatly improve my blogging status.

  1. Is there any way you can create a folder and then upload his pictures directly to that?

  2. I experience this same kind of problem. We have a new system I have to get used to, and it takes so much time to find the right picture. I need to do a whole bunch of deleting, and sorting....and who's got hours to sit at the computer sorting pictures? I used to say "that's a project for the winter".....now I say that's a project for my 70's.

  3. Hi Tami! We have two computers and two cameras so it took us a little bit to figure out a system. The pictures get downloaded into a "to sort" folder. Whoever downloads them (usually the person who took the pictures) is responsible for sorting. Bad pictures get deleted. Family shots get sorted into folders by month. Major trips and events each get their own folder. Jared keeps his photography shots in his own folder system and I keep my craft pictures in my folders. I primarily use the desktop, so I have to make sure any pictures we want to keep get put in the correct folder on the laptop (the newer and better computer). We also back up the pictures periodically on an external hard drive. Its a little complicated of a system, but I can find all my pictures easily. Try giving the General a his own folder and then let him keep track of the different project in there.

Still love your blog! Keep writing!

  4. I don't really know except the folders thing. I wonder if you had each your own memory cards for the camera? Would they load to different folders? Worth a try.

  5. Yes- different folders. When you upload pictures there should be an option to tell the computer to where to put the pictures. The default is probably something like My Pictures. You will probably be able to create a new folder right at that point and name it something meaningful. The General can have a different folder for each project, too!

  6. Thank you all for your suggestions. We have a special guest this weekend, but after we are done entertaining that is my first project. "Do not be grouchy about their projects, do not stiffle their creativity. . ." has been my mantra, as of late.

  7. No advice, just a quick note to say I enjoyed my visit to your blog and all the pictures to introduce me to your family. I'm a new follower from Catholic Mothers Online. Please stop by and return the favor.
